Accepting accolades doesn’t come naturally.

It’s taken me five months and I’m still uncertain that I am worthy of such an honor. But I’m beginning to come to terms with it.

Make no mistake, I take my job very seriously (while trying to have fun, of course). But I know many many excellent faculty out there who would be equally as worthy, if not more so.

Yet last May ’22, I accepted this honor from the American Association of Community Colleges for their 2022 Faculty Member of the Year at their conference in NYC last May. It was the first time this award has ever been offered. Feeling so very humbled. #AACCFacultyMemberOfTheYear2022

I am an educator, artist, scholar, and life-long learner with an insatiable curiosity. For those interested in the alphabet soup, I have a Ed.D., MFA, MA, and BA. My highest degree is in Education and Community College Leadership and my dissertation was on the role of the creative arts in student success for non-arts majors. My previous studies were in the arts from Photography/Journalism (BA) and then Advertising Design (MA), and Studio Art/Design (MFA), the last two with a strong cross-cultural focus.
